About this Vehicle
The Invacar Mark12, this particular car being one of the last of its type to be produced and was built in 1970 and registered the following year. It was a single seater invalid carriage which was property of the government and issued by the ministry of health to folk with disabilities, this to enable them a better life and more independence. Invalid carriages ceased to be produced with the advent of the Motability scheme in the 1980s but some users chose to continue using them until 2003 when the government ordered them all to be destroyed. This example is a rare survivor of its kind and one of only two road legal Invacar Mark 12e on British roads (perhaps the world?) today. They were a relatively common sight on the roads in their time and tens of thousands were issued to folk with disabilities via the ministry of health. They were allowed certain privileges and many folk recall seeing them parked behind the corners during football matches. Note: 1 seat, 1 door.
