About this Vehicle
Dorothy is a 1963 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III. 6230cc, 8 cylinders,, with room for four passengers in real comfort. She was bought at an auction in Naples, Florida, by Alastair Caldwell, McLaren's championship-winning team manager in the 70s. He had gone looking for a big American convertible and had not thought a Rolls appropriate for a man like him. The car found him anyway, and he loved her ever after. He rebuilt her engine himself and then rallied her across the world, with his mother as navigator, aged 94. Berlin to Moscow. The full length of China. The Road to Mandalay through Malaysia, Thailand and Burma. On Formula 1 race day at Silverstone she even ended up on the track, a 1963 Rolls-Royce with no business being there, and she made more people smile that day than anything doing 200mph.
